History Channel’s upcoming drama series “Six” is adding to its ranks as its preps to film in Wilmington.
A+E Networks is producing the eight-episode series, which will follow the personal and professional lives of the men of Navy SEAL Team Six. The fictional series will be inspired by real missions. The first season will cover a 2014 mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan that goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with the terrorists.
Juan Pablo Raba is the first star to sign onto the project, Deadline first reported. He will play Ricky “Buddha” Ortiz, one of the veterans on the team.
This week, Dominic Adams signed on for a role that will play in opposition to the celebrated military team. Adams will play Michael, the antagonist of the series.
In a nod to the North Carolina film industry, Lesli Linka Glatter, coming off a Directors Guild of America nomination for her work on “Homeland,” which shot its first three seasons in Charlotte, will direct the first episode of “Six.” She will also act as executive producer on the series.
Local extras casting director Marty Siu will oversee extras casting on the production.
Filming is expected to begin in late February or early March.
